The Odyssey School is a K-8 public Expeditionary Learning School in Denver, CO. Expeditionary Learning is a national school design centered on constructivist pedagogy, student-centered learning, civic engagement, and collaborative culture with roots in Outward Bound.

As the founding art teacher in 1999, I worked with teachers, school designers, and administrators to create an art curriculum that integrated contemporary art practices with the big ideas in each classroom’s content. This kind of art integration was about enchanting (poetically messing around with) the content, rather than just illustrating the content.

In those early years of Odyssey, I also developed an Expeditionary Learning interpretation of Reggio Emilia documentation panels. See my documentation link for more on that.

I taught art at Odyssey for 12 years.
